Quantitative research

Quantitative research is when numerical data is processed and obtained.
Quantitative research is easier to identify and define as there will be a decrease in the range of information collected rather than Qualitative research.

Advantages:
  • Collects numerical facts and information
  • Able to analyse the data gathered
  • Can be used to test hypotheses because of its ability to measure information using statistics

Disadvantages:
  • Might not be detailed or suited well enough to the criteria
  • Context of the study may be ignored
  • A large sample of the population will have to be studied for more accurate results

Methods:
  • Surveys- mail, online, handouts
  • Questionnaires- closed questions
  • Observation
  • Scales
  • Secondary data
